Parallel-Talk

This manual focuses on a simple speech stimulation technique – ‘Parallel talk’. The manual illustrates how this technique when put in practice and done right, results in overall benefits for a child with communication delays. Parallel talk sets and keeps the communication going between parent and child. An immediate perceptible outcome of such communication is not necessarily the spurt in speech but the reduction in behavioral issues and an increase in compliance with children diagnosed as having ASD.

Second edition of this manaul with inputs from parents and therapists who have used the technique is now available.

The Com DEALL

ASSESSMENT TOOLS

Communication DEALL Developmental Checklist (CDDC)

The CDDC manual consists of checklists covering eight developmental domains for children in the age range of 0 to 6 years. These have been field tested on urban Indian children from middle class backgrounds and can be used as a screening measure for identification of developmental delays in specific areas. In the Communication DEALL program they are used to profile children prior to intervention.

Assessment of Oro-Motor Skills in Toddlers (manual)

Children with speech language acquisition delays and disorders often have difficulties in oromotor skills. These may include children with ASD who often have difficulties with vegetative functions in addition to several others who exhibit clear signs of oral and/or verbal dyspraxia. This manual provides a standardized tool for assessing a child’s oromotor skills. This would also be handy in delineating goals for intervention for children with oromotor issues.
